The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), Health Promotion and Environmental Public Health Section is recruiting for a Senior Climate & Health Equity Strategist (Operations and Policy Analyst 3). In this role, you will serve as a strategic lead and subject matter expert for the nationally recognized Climate and Health (C&H) team, developing strategy, goals, vision, and direction for the team in collaboration with the Assessment Unit Manager.
You will provide expertise and assess climate plans, policies, programs and investments of state agencies and other entities; identify opportunities to advance public health and equity using a Health in all Policies lens; and work with partners to encourage corresponding policy and system changes to reduce health risks from climate change impacts and maximize health and equity co-benefits of climate mitigation investments and actions.
You will also provide technical assistance and information on climate and health to other state agencies, state advisory bodies, local and tribal jurisdictions, and community partners; provide considerable subject matter expertise on climate and health equity within OHA; and leverage knowledge in Environmental Public Health and across OHA to support this work. You will expand cross-OHA and cross-sector opportunities for public health system partners to advance OHA’s goal of eliminating health disparities by 2030 in their communities and jurisdictions in the context of climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience work.
As the Lead Worker for the Climate and Health team, you will provide leadership to the team, which may include orienting new employees, assigning tasks, providing instruction, reviewing work, and giving informal assessment of workers’ performance to the supervisor.
OHA values service excellence, leadership, integrity, health equity and partnership and has a strategic goal to end all health inequities by 2030.
The OHA mission is helping people and communities achieve optimum physical, mental, and social well-being through partnership, prevention and access to quality, affordable health care. OHA’s work is organized into three broad goals: Improve the lifelong health of all Oregonians, increase the quality, reliability, and availability of care for all Oregonians and lower or contain the cost of care so it is affordable to everyone.
